Although winter seems to still be firmly here, we can often start to think ahead to spring. Along with the prospect of longer days and brighter nights, we also have the promise of warmer weather to look forward too – and we want to be able to enjoy it. There are a set number of household chores and cleaning jobs we always have to seem to do when it comes to spring. But wouldn’t it be nice to get some of them out of the way now, so that you have more time to enjoy spring when it arrives? If you want to get ahead of your chores this year, here are a few that you can take care of now.

Perfect The Exterior
Regardless as to whether it’s winter or summer, we often forget all about the outside when it comes to cleaning and chores. But, the exterior of your house is often the first thing someone sees, or even you see when you head home. So, it’s important to make sure that it sparkles. Jobs like cleaning the guttering, and cleaning off the driveway, can seem like tough jobs, but they still need to be done – so start now. Cleaning the windows, or booking in a window cleaner, is also another job to get done before spring.
Check For Pests
You might think that your home is pest-free, but how can you be 100% sure if you don’t check? Over winter, there is a chance that mice may have gotten into your basement or garage to hibernate – through no fault of your own. If you want to make sure that you’re pest free, you’re better off calling in an exterminator to do an expert job.
Clear The Attic
Sometimes, we use our attic or basement space as a dumping ground. And that’s okay because we all do it. But, at some point, it gets full, and you can no longer use it for storing anything else. At this point, we need to have a huge clear out. In winter, we often get out a lot of things that then need to go back into storage. To do that, you’re going to need to make some room. On the plus side, you will feel a lot better for it.
Prep Your Garden
To really be able to enjoy the spring, you’re going to want to make sure that your garden is ready. If you’ve neglected your yard a little over the winter month, get ahead and start working on it now. By clearing old weeds and plants, planting new bulbs (once the last frost has been), and uncovering your garden furniture, you’ll be able to get out and enjoy the milder weather as soon as it arrives.
Sweep The Chimney
If you have a chimney, then you’ll know that you should probably get it swept once a year. It’s always best to if you’re using it regularly. In the winter, we tend to have more fires to keep out the cold. Instead of leaving this job until you need to use the fire again, think fast and tick it off now. That way, you can enjoy spring knowing that you’ve gotten a lot of jobs done.
